MEET TANNER ARGALL, MEMBER RELATIONS MANAGER

As Member Relations Manager for Foremost Farms’ Midwest region, Tanner Argall works closely with members across Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa to help support their success and strengthen cooperative relationships. With a background in dairy equipment and a passion for working directly with producers, he brings practical experience and a member-focused perspective to his work in member relations.

WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT ROLE AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH FOREMOST FARMS?

I’m the Member Relations Manager for Foremost Farms’ Midwest region, including Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa, and have been in this role for just over two years.

WHAT ORIGINALLY BROUGHT YOU TO FOREMOST FARMS AND WHAT HAS KEPT YOU HERE?

Before joining Foremost Farms, I worked with my dad at our family business, Argall Dairy Systems, where we installed and serviced milking equipment on dairy farms.

I knew I wanted to stay in dairy and I really enjoyed the day-to-day interaction with producers. My role allows me to continue building those relationships and work directly with our members. What’s keeping me here, though, is the people—especially our Field Rep team. They do a tremendous job supporting our farms, and I’m fortunate to work alongside a group that’s so committed to our members.

WHAT ARE SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR ROLE?

One of the biggest highlights over the past couple of years has been navigating several Field Rep retirements. We’ve had the opportunity to celebrate some incredible careers—many with 40+ years of service—and recognize the lasting impact they’ve had on our farms.

At the same time, it’s been rewarding to help guide those transitions and ensure continuity for our members as responsibilities shift across the team.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING WITH OUR MEMBERS?

I really enjoy working directly with our members and supporting the work they’re doing on their farms. Our producers take a lot of pride in shipping high-quality milk, and I like being a resource as they work through challenges. With my background in milking equipment, I’m often able to bring an extra perspective to troubleshooting milk quality issues. It’s rewarding to help identify improvements that support their success and allow them to capture available premiums.

YOU RECENTLY ATTENDED THE GRADUATE INSTITUTE OF COOPERATIVE LEADERSHIP SUMMER INSTITUTE, WHICH BRINGS TOGETHER LEADERS FROM AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVES TO EXPLORE INDUSTRY CHALLENGES, STRENGHTEN LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND DEEPEN UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT MAKES COOPERATIVES UNIQUE AND SUCCESSFUL. WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE EXPERIENCE AND WHAT WAS THE MOST VALUABLE TAKEAWAY?

My favorite part was being able to network with others in the industry. Spending a few days together with people from across the ag sector—dairy, cotton, cranberries, grapes, ag lending, and more—led to some really valuable conversations and different perspectives.

Another highlight was having our President and CEO, Brenda, join us for a session and open discussion. It added a unique perspective to hear directly from our own leadership while we were talking through cooperative topics. One of my biggest takeaways from that discussion was around the lifecycle of cooperatives—how healthy co-ops go through cycles of growth and regeneration, and how staying in the status quo can lead to decline over time. Reflecting on that, I think Foremost Farms is actively embracing that mindset, with a strong focus on strategic priorities and investing in the future.

IN CELEBRATION OF JUNE DAIRY MONTH, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DAIRY PRODUCT?

It’s a tough call between cheese and ice cream, but I’ll have to go with cookies and cream ice cream!
